About the Company

At Avaron, you get the security of a permanent position combined with the variety of working on-site with different clients. We recruit specialists in everything from technology, IT, and industry to project management and business support – and regardless of the assignment, you have a consulting manager who is there for you and your development.

About the Role

You will step into a strategic urban development project where the environmental assessment will provide guidance for a new municipal comprehensive plan. Here, you will work at the intersection of physical planning, water issues, climate, nature values, and long-term strategic choices for how a dense city should develop sustainably.

You will become a key partner in a municipal societal planning environment with high demands on quality, clarity, and collaboration. The work builds on previous materials and includes scoping consultations, integrated environmental assessment, and proposals for an environmental impact statement. You will also contribute with strategic support regarding protected species, the EU Nature Restoration Regulation, and reduced climate impact.

This is a role for you who wants to influence early strategic choices and translate complex environmental knowledge into concrete and useful planning guidance.

Responsibilities
  • You prepare materials for scoping consultations with the County Administrative Board, including reports and presentations.
  • You identify critical issues and analyze which significant environmental effects may follow from strategic choices in the comprehensive planning process.
  • You describe relevant environmental aspects for the environmental impact statement and develop a clear zero alternative.
  • You drive the work with integrated environmental assessment and prepare proposals for the environmental impact statement for consultation together with the plan proposal.
  • You prepare materials and support for strategic choices related to how species data can be used in comprehensive planning, the occurrence and connections of protected and strictly protected species, the EU Nature Restoration Regulation, and issues regarding reduced climate impact.
  • You weigh in on issues concerning comprehensive planning, water and sewerage, stormwater management linked to environmental quality standards, climate adaptation, risk, health, nature, and cultural heritage from a cohesive strategic perspective.
  • You work closely with the client in kick-off meetings, regular check-ins, and final deliveries, with a step-by-step approach that ensures quality and progress.
  • You ensure that materials are easy to read, editable, and adapted for publication, and that any GIS data is delivered according to specified requirements.
Requirements
  • You have documented experience leading strategic environmental assessments according to Chapter 6 of the Environmental Code.
  • You have at least 9–12 years of experience in the professional field.
  • You hold an academic degree in environmental science, urban planning, engineering, or another field relevant to the role.
  • You have documented experience in integrated strategic environmental assessment and EIA of comprehensive plans, or equivalent materials.
  • You have broad competence in environmental assessment and EIA, comprehensive planning and water/sewerage, stormwater management linked to environmental quality standards, climate adaptation and climate impact at a strategic level, as well as species protection and nature restoration.
  • You express yourself clearly in writing and can produce well-structured materials for consultation and decision-making.
  • You thrive in close collaboration with clients and can drive deliveries step-by-step with continuous check-ins.
Merits
  • Experience with similar assignments in a metropolitan context.
  • Experience with GIS and geodata materials, including work in ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, or QGIS, and delivery of data and metadata according to defined format requirements.

  • Private pension plan
  • Wellness allowance of 5,000 SEK per year
